Elk Grove Unified School District – Valley High School Fire Academy

Elk Grove Unified School District Valley High School Fire Academy Overhead Doors with Boldt Truck Parked Outside

Located in Sacramento, California, the Elk Grove Unified School District is the fifth largest in the state and the single largest in Northern California. To help meet the local need for firefighting and prevention professionals, the school district engaged Boldt to construct a new Fire Academy at the district’s Valley High School. The Fire Academy houses the district’s Fire Science Career Connected Learning program. Students at the academy are taught the fundamentals of fire fighting, from ladder use to hose handling. Students also learn how to use a fire engine, provided at the courtesy of the local Cosumnes Community Service District’s Fire Department.

Construction consisted of a new 2,500 vehicle storage building, accessibility upgrades to existing buildings, utility services to the adjacent modular classrooms and site work upgrades. Boldt Self-Performed the structural framing and mass timber for the project.
