Alliant Energy - West Riverside Construction Site - Full View

The Alliant Energy West Riverside Energy Center is an advanced technology, highly efficient natural gas facility under construction near Beloit, Wisconsin. The generating station uses combined-cycle technology to generate 650 MW of energy – enough power for more than 550,000 homes. At its peak, it employed more than 1,000 construction workers and represented one of the largest economic development projects in Wisconsin. AECOM was Alliant Energy’s engineering, procurement, and construction (“EPC”) general contractor for the project.

Boldt was awarded the construction contract for the Riverside expansion project due to the company’s experienced team, local labor leadership, safety and quality performance on energy projects. Boldt’s scope of work included extensive concrete work, including the complex layout and embedding of electrical conduits, steam, condensate, water and air piping inserts in addition to the other embedded steel materials and anchor bolts. Additional scope included erection of structural steel, balance of plant components and installation of the major energy-producing equipment, which included the GE 7FA combustion turbines and fully enclosed Nooter Erikson heat-recovery steam generators.
